i got talking to my sister yesterday.
[theres this censor on my bikini bottom that they decesortized but they forgot to take it off. i had to jet for pitts before i could bring it back, so my friends and i spent forever and a day trying to get the damn thing off my bottoms.]
J: wouldn't it be nice if you had a machine... that just took all the tags off for you?
then all the clothes in all the stores would be a free-for-all. would you want it?
i think so?
hm, what if you were eying this BCBG dress and then you could take the tags off and fundle it out?
...oh no, i dont think so. that'd just ruin the dress.
i think it's better to save and then be able to buy it yourself. no matter how long you have to work for it.
i dont think i could adore and cherish it at the same value i would have..
plus i woudnt feel as glam wearing it either..
yea, cuz you cheapened it!

a&j's thoughts.

it seems we're all so eager to lose our single status. lusting after the new fall line in the corner store window; sometimes generalizing our desires into owning the entire fall line, now blurred by the so many windows we've walked by, -- instead of that one special BCBG dress.
Randomly scattering our resources at an imitation or conniving of hurried [violent] ways of claiming ownership of the dress by rushing its delivery from the display window.. .......
why.
after the initial rush created by the transfer of its ownership, everything i was, i still am.
i remember being in middle school thinking... if that cute popular soccer jock everyone crushed on, liked me back.. maybe i could validate for myself everything i validated about him. dont cover yourself up! be respected, and most of all liked, for who we are, not for our associations. underneath my clothes, i know im still butt naked. so we should love our bodies, love ourselves. not be disillusioned by promises of superficiality.
i think the best way is to save up for it. save ourselves by working on ourself. save up on knowledge, dignity, love, faith, ..
then when the BCBG dress should come along... we would have enough resources to make it ours.. and know it is for sure. we will know our someonesomeone is the real thing. not a cheapened version of an ideal we've eyed. we wouldnt need to suspect its authenticity. we will know that every moment with them matters because weve came this far not for nothing. definately not for an imitation. ...but we've earned the real thing.

so while everyone else walks around in their Charolette Rouse's version of the silkdress made from polyester, while everyone tries to tailor the dress they got on sell in the last size that wasnt theirs, while everyone struggles to tug and pull on the discount dress that didn't make them over into the ideal model sporting the likewise trend on the cover of W,.. i'll know that the tag on the back of my dress will read BCBG. ...size 2. ;)

Once in the closet, all pricetags come off. And we'll know what the dress is worth to us, not the estimated value assigned to it externally. now, whether this dress loses its elasticity or shrinks to be too restricting from its original size, or maybe you gaind a few extra pounds, or in my case unwillingly sheds a few, would not matter, because the moment you had -- was real.
then can we truly bask in the glory of our BCBG dress!!!

dont try on every goddamn dress on sale. dont compromise who youve become, or settle for somthing less than what you think you deserve. if we dont reserve our own worth, who could? and i know we dont gotta have everything just cause we can honey!

lastly, i will definately not walk through life wearing a cheap imitation dress. that's a fashion faux-pas.
...plus, the material could cause a rash.

have a nice day, for i am done here!
